How we built this app

In the event of a medical emergency, employees should have easy access to materials that provide instructions on how to respond to the emergency before professional help arrives. In this case, the app is giving written pointers along with visual aids on how to give CPR. In the Steps view, the app gives general information; clicking into each item gives a more detailed description of how to perform the given action. 1. One of the most important aspects of this app is the images it features that show employees exactly how to perform the action in question. We included these images by first specifying an Image column in the spreadsheet and then adding the file names of each image within that column for each row of instructions. AppSheet understood the Image column and automatically set the Field Type to “Image”. 2. For the Steps view, we specified a “Deck” Action Type from the Advanced Editor>UX>Controls tab. The Deck allows for a step-by-step view of each item-- which, in this case, is necessary as it could be a matter of life and death if steps are not followed in the correct order. By contrast, the Gallery view sets items adjacent to each other and would not be appropriate for this particular app.
This is a preview of the data sets used in the app.
