This app demonstrates the ability to show different views depending on a person’s role (admin or user) within the company. Inspectors have the ability to create new inspection reports. Admins have the ability to access the admin dashboard, add new users, and delete records. To explore the Admin perspective, copy the app and add the email address you use to log in to AppSheet to the Admin table. To explore the Inspector perspective, remove your email address from the Admin table, add it to the Inspectors table, and re-sync the app. The app has three primary views—Turbine Map, Admin Dashboard, and Turbines. The Turbine Map view displays all turbines' coordinates with AppSheet Map Pin Grouping feature. Map Pin Grouping consolidates densely clustered turbines into a grouped point with a label showing the number of turbines in that group. The Admin Dashboard view is only visible to users whose email address is included in the Admin table. This view shows all wind turbines on a map, the inspection calendar, inspectors, and maintenance tickets. The Turbines view shows all turbines, grouped by county. Go to Turbines view, select a turbine, and add a new inspection to that turbine. When a new inspection is added, the app will send an email to the inspector.

How we built this app

This app demonstrates the ability to show different views depending on a person’s role within the company. A user’s permissions are managed by including them in the Admin table, Inspectors table, or both. AppSheet tailors the security permissions and UX experience for the user by checking the logged-in user’s email against the Admin table. Data permissions are defined at the table level, using user emails: -Turbines, Admin and Counties: admins can make all changes to the three tables—Add, Update and Delete. Users are not allowed to make any changes. -Inspections: admins can make all changes to this table. Users can only add or update information. You can also limit access by user email domain, title, department name, and others. Check out the doc here https://help.appsheet.com/security/security-filters/security-filters-the-essentials. Copy the app and customize to your business needs. Some other cool design ideas: -Send emails only when the Evidence of Bird Strike is Yes, or when Status is Requires Maintenance. -If Evidence of Bird Strike is Yes, the inspection form links to another form where users can enter more information about its severity and implications. After the user filled out the second form, an email will be sent to the maintenance team. -Color code the Inspection Calendar by Inspector, Turbine, or County. The app was created from an SQL database.
