Function:
Customer Engagement
Travel is stressful-- even vacation travel-- and an organized list of destinations can often help to ease some of the disorientation that comes along with exploring a new locale. This app can help organize vacation “wishlist” destinations. Using images and URLs, travelers can easily refer to different locations using a gallery or a list view. The helpful map view allows for quick and easy navigation to each venue. This app can be used by individual travelers for their own documentation or by tourism agents to distribute to tourists.

How we built this app
The app should help users organize places they want to visit and keep track of destinations they’ve already seen.
1. We created this app using a simple spreadsheet containing names, addresses, phone numbers, URLs, and images for each destination.
2. Because we created a column called “Address”, AppSheet automatically created a Map view (left) and mapped each location’s address. Clicking a pin on the map zooms the user into that location and provides an option to map directions by tapping the little car icon at the top left.
3. Likewise, the “Image” column in the spreadsheet produced a Gallery view (middle) in the app.
4. We also wanted to be able to view each place in a simple list, so we created a decked List view in the AppSheet Editor > UX tab. The deck Action Type shows images in a list in either a round or square format.
5. Clicking into each item in the List view expands the item and displays information about it. Click the map pin icon to navigate to that location on the map. Click the phone or text icon to contact the location. Click the tiny box with the arrow to view the location’s external website.
This is a preview of the data sets used in the app.
This is a high-level model of both the data entities and the UI elements in the app.
